RESUMO: O cultivo de soja e milho safrinha avança em condições edafoclimáticas restritivas, como nos PLINTOSSOLOS PÈTRICOS, que apresentam proporções consideráveis de cascalho no seu perfil e são deficientes em cobre (Cu) e zinco (Zn). Não se sabe os efeitos de doses de Cu e Zn na nutrição da soja cultivada em PLINTOSSOLO PÉTRICO, nem se os níveis considerados adequados para outros solos são suficientes para solos cascalhentos, ou ainda, se altas doses de Cu e Zn podem causar toxidez nas plantas de soja. O objetivo foi comparar a resposta a doses de Cu e Zn em soja cultivada em PLINTOSSOLO PÉTRICO e em LATOSSOLO, a fim de identificar alterações provocadas pelo solo com cascalho, e adicionalmente, avaliar o efeito residual da adubação feita na soja para o milho safrinha cultivado no LATOSSOLO. Quatro experimentos foram desenvolvidos com doses de Cu e Zn aplicadas via solo na cultura da soja em LATOSSOLO e em PLINTOSSOLO PÉTRICO. Houve a mesma taxa de incremento na concentração de Zn no tecido foliar da soja nos dois solos estudados, para cada kg ha-1 de Zn aplicado, o incremento foi de 0,7 mg·kg-1 demonstrando que não há diferença de um solo com ou sem cascalho para os efeitos da adubação. As doses de oxissulfato de Zn e Cu aplicadas via solo não causaram efeito residual no milho safrinha. As maiores doses de Cu e Zn não causaram efeito tóxico nas plantas. Os principais critérios de interpretação de Cu e Zn em análise do solo se aplicam para soja cultivada em PLINTOSSOLO PÉTRICO.

ABSTRACT: Cultivation of soybean and off-season corn is advancing in areas under restricted edaphoclimatic conditions, such as petric plinthosols, which have significant proportions of gravel and are deficiency in micro-nutrients such as copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn). The effects of Cu and Zn concentrations on soybean nutrition cultivated in petric plinthosol are unclear, and it is unknown whether the levels considered adequate for other soils are sufficient for gravely soils, or even if higher Cu and Zn rates can cause a toxic effect in soybean. The objective was to compare the response of soybean grown in petric plinthosol and ferralsol to Cu and Zn doses for identifying the changes induced by gravel soils and to evaluate the residual effect on off-season corn grown in ferralsol. Four experiments were carried out with Cu and Zn doses applied to soil with the soybean crop in ferralsol and plinthosol. The leaf tissues of soybean crops in the two soils showed the same rate of increase in Zn concentrations, for each kg·ha-1 of Zn applied, the increase in Zn was 0.7 mg·kg-1, suggesting no difference in the effect of Zn fertilization between soils with and without gravel. The dosages of Zn and Cu Oxysulfate applied to soil did not cause residual effects in the off-season corn. The highest doses of Cu and Zn did not have any toxic effects on the plants. The main criteria for interpreting Cu and Zn in soil analysis are thus also applicable to soybean crops grown in petric plinthosol.

ABSTRACT. There is currently a lack of information in the literature on the integrated production of macauba (Acrocomia aculeata) and soybean (Glycine max) crops, and the importance of expanding integrated production systems; therefore, the objective of this work was to identify the effects of macauba shading on growth, development, and productivity of different soybean cultivars. The experiment was carried out in a randomized block design in a factorial scheme (4 × 2), with four cultivars and two production systems (monoculture and crop-forest integration), and four replicates per treatment. All soybean cultivars in the crop-forest integration system showed plant stagnation due to the shade level of the palm trees, as well as a reduction in the leaf area index and chlorophyll content in the leaves. Regarding reproductive parameters, grain, and oil yield, the cultivars responded differently between the production systems, revealing an interaction between the genotype and the environment. Our methodology was not favorable to soybean production; therefore, the management of spacing between palm trees and the selection of soybean genotypes that are more adapted to shaded environments are strategies that can allow for the integrated production of these species.

RESUMO A composição química dos grãos de soja é fortemente influenciada por fatores genéticos, bem como sua interação com o ambiente e práticas de manejo. Entre os fatores ambientais, o déficit hídrico e a temperatura são os que mais contribuem para alterar a composição química dos grãos, especialmente o conteúdo de óleo e proteína. Objetivou-se avaliar os efeitos da coinoculação com Azospirillum brasilense sobre os teores de óleo e proteína da soja. Foram realizados dois experimentos em campo, em épocas de semeadura distintas. O delineamento utilizado foi em blocos casualizados, em esquema de parcelas subsubdivididas, com quatro repetições, composto por duas lâminas de irrigação (25 % e 100 % da ETc), dois métodos de inoculação [Bradyrhizobium japonicum (estirpes Semia 5079 e Semia 5080) e Azospirillum brasilense (estirpes AbV5 e AbV6 + Bradyrhizobium japonicum)] e duas cultivares (ANTA 82 e TMG 132). A coinoculação não afetou o teor de óleo e proteína dos grãos em nenhum dos manejos avaliados. O déficit hídrico no estádio reprodutivo, aliado às épocas de semeadura, alterou os teores de óleo e proteína nas duas cultivares avaliadas, apresentando, respectivamente, maior teor médio de proteína e óleo nos grãos para as cultivares TMG 132 e ANTA 82.

ABSTRACT The soybean chemical composition is strongly influenced by genetic factors, as well as their interaction with the environment and management practices. Among the environmental factors, water deficit and temperature are those that most contribute to modify the chemical composition of beans, especially oil and protein contents. The present study aimed to assess the effects of co-inoculation with Azospirillum brasilense on soybean oil and protein contents. Two field experiments were carried out on different sowing dates. The design consisted of randomized blocks, in a split-split-plot arrangement, with four replications, including two irrigation depths (25 % and 100 % of the ETc), two inoculation methods [Bradyrhizobium japonicum (strains Semia 5079 and Semia 5080) and Azospirillum brasilense (strains AbV5 and AbV6 + Bradyrhizobium japonicum)] and two cultivars (ANTA 82 and TMG 132). The co-inoculation did not affect the oil and protein contents of beans for any of the assessed management conditions. The water deficit in the reproductive stage, combined with the sowing dates, altered the oil and protein contents in both the assessed cultivars, showing, respectively, a higher average protein and oil content in the beans for the cultivars TMG 132 and ANTA 82.

ABSTRACT: Integrating plant density and nitrogen (N) management is a strategy for improving corn yields, especially for off-season corn production in the tropics. This study tested the hypothesis that increasing plant densities and N rates promotes yield gains for off-season corn production in high-yielding environments. The aim of the study was to investigate the yield performances of two hybrid versions (DKB PRO and DKB PRO3) submitted to three plant densities (55,000; 65,000 and 75,000 plants ha−1) and four N rates (control, 60, 120 and 180 kg ha−1 N). Field trials were undertaken at Uberlândia-MG (site1 and 2) and Pedro Afonso-TO (site 3), Brazil from which data on corn yield parameters were collected and analyzed. Multivariate analysis separated the three trial areas into two groups, presenting high (sites 1 and 2) and low yields (site 3), which were related to weather conditions. There was no influence of a hybrid version or plant densities on crop yields at site 1 or 2. In contrast, there was a positive response to increasing plant densities and the use of DKB PRO3 at site 3. A significant response to N was observed at sites 2 and 3, following a plateau model. Our results suggest that N application rates and plant densities do have the potential to increase off-season corn yields in low yielding environments.

Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a incidência de enfezamentos e os seus efeitos na produtividade de híbridos de milho (Zea mays) safrinha em diferentes épocas de semeadura. O experimento foi conduzido em três locais no Estado do Tocantins, em épocas de semeadura distintas, em delineamento experimental de blocos ao acaso, com 30 híbridos (tratamentos) e três repetições. A incidência de enfezamentos foi avaliada aos 80 dias após emergência, tendo variado entre híbridos e épocas de semeadura, com efeito pronunciado da época de semeadura. Os híbridos mais resistentes foram: MG652 PW, Penta VIP, MG600 PW, NS90 PRO2, LG3040 VIP3, MG580 PW e Defender VIP. O híbrido Fórmula VIP2 foi o mais suscetível aos enfezamentos. A incidência da doença aumentou nas épocas de semeadura mais tardias, com redução significativa da produtividade de grãos. Os híbridos mais produtivos foram: MG580 PW, SYN 5T78 VIP, 2B810 PRO, MG600 PW, Supremo VIP, 2B512 PW, NS92 PRO2, P30S31 VYH, MG652 PW, Penta VIP, SX5371 VIP3 e LG6036 PRO. Os híbridos de milho variam muito na sua resistência aos enfezamentos, e, quanto mais tardia a semeadura, maior a incidência da doença e menor a produtividade de grãos.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the incidence of corn stunt disease and its effects on the grain yield of off-season corn (Zea mays) hybrids in different sowing seasons. The experiment was conducted in three sites in the state of Tocantins, in different sowing seasons, in a randomized complete block design, with 30 hybrids (treatments) and three replicates. Corn stunt disease incidence was assessed at 80 days after emergence, varying between hybrids and sowing seasons, with a marked effect of sowing season. The most resistant hybrids were: MG652 PW, Penta VIP, MG600 PW, NS90 PRO2, LG3040 VIP3, MG580 PW, and Defender VIP. The Fórmula VIP2 hybrid was the most susceptible to corn stunt disease. The incidence of the disease increased in the later sowing seasons, causing significant declines in grain yield. The most productive hybrids were: MG580 PW, SYN 5T78 VIP, 2B810 PRO, MG600 PW, Supremo VIP, 2B512 PW, NS92 PRO2, P30S31 VYH, MG652 PW, Penta VIP, SX5371 VIP3, and LG6036 PRO. Corn hybrids vary greatly in their resistance to corn stunt disease, and, the later the sowing season, the higher the disease incidence and the lower the grain yield.

Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar as perdas causadas pelas podridões da base do colmo em híbridos de milho (Zea mays), bem como identificar os principais patógenos causadores da doença, durante a safrinha, no Estado do Tocantins, Brasil. Foram realizados dois ensaios, um com cinco híbridos, em 2015, e outro com quatro, em 2016. Espigas de plantas sadias e doentes foram colhidas em cada parcela, por ocasião da colheita. Foram medidos tamanho de espigas, peso de grãos e espigas, e umidade dos grãos. De cada planta doente, foi retirado um fragmento do colmo com dois a três entrenós, utilizado para identificação e quantificação dos patógenos. Os patógenos mais comuns foram: Fusarium graminearum, Stenocarpella maydis e Macrophomina phaseolina. Todas as variáveis de produtividade foram significativamente menores nas plantas doentes, com perdas médias de 30,6%, em 2015, e de 34,3% em 2016. As maiores perdas são observadas em híbridos com maior relação entre pesos de grãos e espigas.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to assess yield losses due to stalk rot in corn (Zea mays) hybrids, as well as to identify the main pathogenic fungi responsible for the disease during the off-season, in the state of Tocantins, Brazil. Two field experiments were carried out, one with five hybrids, in 2015, and another with four, in 2016. Ears of healthy and stalk rot-infected plants were collected from each plot, at harvest. Ear size, grain and ear weights, and grain moisture content were measured. From each diseased plant, a stalk piece with two to three nodes was removed for pathogen identification and quantification. The most common pathogens were: Fusarium graminearum, Stenocarpella maydis, and Macrophomina phaseolina. All yield parameters were significantly lower in stalk rot-infected plants, with average losses of 30.6%, in 2015, and of 34.3% in 2016. The highest yield losses are observed in hybrids with the highest grain/ear weight ratio.
